Dr. Michael Van Anrooy, MD, has received a mixed overall sentiment from patients, reflected in a rating of 3.0 out of 5. While some patients commend his surgical skills and bedside manner, others express dissatisfaction with his punctuality and decision-making regarding treatment options. Common themes of praise include his expertise in orthopedic surgery, particularly in complex cases such as knee replacements and spinal surgeries. Patients appreciate his thoroughness in explaining medical conditions and treatment options, often highlighting his compassionate approach. For instance, one review noted successful surgeries for a patient's husband after a severe accident, emphasizing the positive outcomes and Dr. Van Anrooy's supportive demeanor. Conversely, criticisms frequently mention long wait times and scheduling issues, with several patients reporting that he is often behind schedule. Additionally, some patients have expressed frustration over treatment decisions, particularly regarding weight-related surgery refusals, which led to complications in their conditions. Notably, one patient experienced significant deterioration of their knee due to a delay in treatment, resulting in a more invasive procedure later on. Overall, potential patients should weigh these factors when considering Dr. Van Anrooy for orthopedic care.
